What is the correct carb manifold gasket to be used on a 440 manual 4spd?

I’m think old school, but if I cover the top of the carb the car should start to putter but when try that the idle increases? Vacuum link?

Edel 750 AFB gasket should fit. Just make sure it covers any passages in the carb base.

Would this cause an issue with carb / motor not having a smooth idle?

No, as long as all the passages in the carb base are covered by the gasket. Might just be the pic, but the opening for the throttle bores look a bit small. Easy fixed with an Xacto knife, by trimming the gasket where it overhangs the t/bores.
