Our Bengal quit eating last Friday. We had an emergency vet visit. X Ray showed some inflammation so exploratory surgery his intestines were inflamed but there was no blockage. Of course it has to happen just before we leave for vacation. Our cat sitter say he has eaten some and is moving better what a relief!!!

This is my shop cat, I rescued her several years ago. She was at a dealership I was doing some work at. She is friendly but is pretty much a one person cat.

Glad you took her when you left the shop, she has that color combo a few of mine have.
for some reason, only female cats ever have 3 colors - I've typically heard it called calico. You will almost never see a male cat with three colors

Color is determined by the X chromosome.
It is either "red" or "black"*.
"Dilute", a recessive gene can make buff and gray.
(*mostly, but there are exceptions)

Females have two X chromosomes, while males have one X and one Y.
Therefore, females can be both red and black, while males can only be red or black.
Interestingly, 80% of "orange" (red) cats are male.

"White" is a genetic mutation known as the "white spotting gene".

This usually appears at the paws and chin/neck area, proceeding to the underside, up the legs and on to the nose before it becomes predominately a white cat with colored "spots".
There are names for the degree of spotting.

Calicos are dual colored with white spotting.

Cats with dual colors but no spotting are "tortoise shell".

There is a combination of "tabby" pattern and tortoise shell called "torbie".

My dude LJ. Killed a rodent a day most of his life, very few birds thankfully. His twin brother Guido moved to a house up the street years ago after LJ turned into a Dick and terrorized him. I received a text from Bill, Guidos new owner on a Thursday, saying Guido had died of heart failure that week Tuesday morning. I told him I had put LJ down on that same morning. Twins!

The most gentle cat I have ever known. Can't believe she is 11 now !
