picked this up the other day thought it was neat! The General Lee!

Ah the old President line of radios. Basically Cobras.
I still have a Royce 23 Ch unit from the 70s and a Cobra 148 GTL I still use.

In 1989, I bought a 1977, 40 ch Midland at a yard sale for $10.
It came with an antenna, and a fold over transmission mount with an external speaker.

When I bought my Satellite, it had a mid 70's 23 CH RCA under the dash.

I still have both.

Looks like a Cobra 25 or 29. Great CBs. I have had a 25 classic in all of my vehicles for the last 15 years. I don’t talk much, but I do like to listen.

I just listened because I was terrible trying to talk, never got the jargon, some people where super others nasty!

Back in late 70's early 80's a bunch of us had the CB's - my handle was Challenger...ask me why? Lol. Listening to the CB on a long trip home that's how I learned that Elvis died. The CB came in handy traveling around much as I had to back when with my job especially during bad weather. I had a company car, super plain-Jane Malibu with an AM only radio - company was too cheap to think about CB's back when we were driving in remote areas where if ya broke down or had an accident could be days before being found. Part of my job included inspecting grain elevators. So took mine with me on long trips. Fun times chatting with truckers with nothing to do since the AM was out of range of stations half the time.

The first car I had mine in was my 1970 Firebird. I was 15/16 and kept my foot in it wherever I went and so my handle ended up being White Lightening, still is even though I haven’t owed a white vehicle in years...

I had a couple boxes of old cab radios and gear think I tossed them last month

But its a President brand. Notice it is the General Lee model.
As I said basically a rebranded Cobra. And as I understand these days they are a 10 meter radio.
10 meter radios don't play well with 11 meter units unless they are modified and that's an Uncle Charlie no no.

I see now... you’re right about it being a no no... so is my 1 driving 4 pill copper board amplifier that “stays” off, that I have on my slightly modified 25 Classic....

Y’all are way over my head what you talking about!

So are my 148 GTL and Royce (I forget the model).
In fact, Iirc they made using a 23 Ch unit illegal, no?

Here's a blast from the past...KBAE 6854.

KABZ5579.
Had a base station set up with an antenna mounted in the top of a 50' pine tree next to my bedroom
window back in the late 70's.
Oh....and a D104 mic, of course. :)
Everything jacked up, I got good miles outta her.

Had a Cobra (forget the model) with a tree beater whip mounted on the bed rail just behind the cab. 79 short box reg cab 360 in the very early 80's. Took it out when the chatter died down and then tried it out again in the late 90's and dead air waves. Don't remember what I did with the radio but still have the tree beater.

Had my 1st base station 50 years ago. 13 channel Lafayette with TUBES:lol:. My older brother was into electronics so 1st he changed a tube that increased the power from 4.5 watts to 25. Then he build me a 500 watt linear. Those were some fun daze!! 2 antennas,,,,1 was a 5 element directional beam and on the other side of the house was a stick.
Have a modified Cobra for my truck, just never put it in.......:blah::blah::blah:
