Hi all I am new here and have a ?....what a surprise huh...Does anybody have the measurement of where the air cleaner stud would be in the hood of a 65 Coronet???? (need to cut a hole for a hood scoop and the engine BIG Block is not in the car) Thanks in advance Jim

welcome if it were me i would wait until the engines all in and buttoned up and everythings where its at then i would cut the hole in the hood im sure theres going to be some kind of variance between your car and someone elses based on hood/ sheet metal alingment and other things or whatever measure twice cut once like they say and take your time.

I am just looking to get close so I have an idea of how much bracing will have to be cut.....

Yep wait for the engine to be in the car.

FIRST: Run a string from the cowl over the center of the carb to the front of the car. Mark it on the cowl and the front.
SECOND: Run the string from the Pass. fender across the center of the carb to the Dr. fender and mark it.
THIRD: When you put the hood on where it is going to be run the strings from mark to mark; this should be the center of the carb. Drill a pilot hole and it should be real close. All that is left is to cut the hole in the hood.

Good Luck and I hope this was helpful.

or put a 6 inch long piece of allthread in the carb stud hole and slam the hood to mark it. just kidding sorry my cars a 66

I suppose it also depends on what you are using for a hood scoop and whether you want it centered on the hood for appearance sake.My 63 fury has a lot of offset to the right so I centered the scoop on the hood and used a offset filter base and hold down rod. This way also reduces the size of the hole you need to cut in the hood for air cleaner clearance.
