Chance for a Hemi

I have an opportunity to pickup a 69 Hemi block with a stock bore, crank and rods and main bearing caps. The owner indicates the block is free from any cracks or damage.

I won't be putting this in my Polara but perhaps I can find a different car to install it in.

He is asking $3500 ... is that too much or should I jump all over it (wife permitting)

myself i would grab it. then i would look for a 69 body to put it in. it makes a difference in the value. when mine was appraised after the install, 69 coronet with a 69 hemi engine out of a r/r, the appraised value went up due to the date correct motor. another thing i found odd was the insurance company didn't put it in a hot rodded class because they were made with that engine stock.
for that price you are going to have 9-10 grand in the motor finished and thats a very reasonably priced hemi. :happy7:

After much deliberation and discussion we (the wife and I) have determined that the money spent on this engine would be better used on getting the Polara finished.

So ... if anyone is interested you can find the engine on the Tucson AZ Craigslist.

I don't think it's all that great a deal. Granted, this stuff is more money, but it's NEW. I would have passed anyway.
