My brother owns this car and was asking my opinion as to what he should do with the deteriorating paint and some old bodywork that is begining to show through. I told him to come see my buddy Randy at B&B ,where the "DOG" is, for some advice and options, so he did. Could detail it very nicely for a few hundy and get a couple more years out of it before a resto, or just restore it now to verying degrees. He asked me what i thought he should do, so I told him to get a Marti report to see how rare it is and use that info to make your decision. Here is that report and I am interested to hear what you guys think of it. Wouldn't it be nice if Ma-Mopar kept records like this?
Needless to say the car will be getting a resto this winter.

Wow got it down to a one of one! It's nice that they have enough information available to break it down to the seat belts!

I had a 68 GT coupe for 10 years and I'm pretty sure it was a rare car. Acapulco blue/parchment, 302 J code, 4 spd, 3.0 equalock rear end and rear window defrost. I have never seen another one even close to it and I don't think I want to know now if it's a one of one!! The Ford guru's would get all excited about the 4 spd J code coupe part. Oh well. Yeah, the Marti stuff is cool. Just for fun I thought of getting one for my 71 Ranchero 500.

The 68 302 4V is a limited production engine so it's kind of rare. Let me know if you need anything. I have a correct carb for the auto trans (C8ZF-C I believe) and might have some other stuff. The auto cars didn't get the smog pump.

Sounds like you have a keeper!!!!

Yeah, with the Marti report MANY Fords are one of one or one of a few when you break it down that far.
The Bottom line is it is documented as a 1968 302-4/auto, Red/Red with white convert top and white stripes.

This car was in my sister-in-laws family for a long time, not sure if from new or not and seems to be very complete and mostly original, it runs nice and drives out well. It will be an easy resto. Interestingly it has single exhaust, I might change this and I would also put the original wire wheel covers in a box and install some Magnum 500s and redlines.
