Okay, still working in the Charger's engine bay. I have found rust in places that I can't seem to get into. For example, inner fender where it meets the fire wall and cowl where the hinges go. The inner fender under the battery tray was pitted. I have ground and sanded it down the best I could, but how do I get what appear like "rust freckles" out of the paint? I can't grind any deeper. I did manage to get the brake master cylinder and plate off. It was not a 10 minute job but that's another story. After much blood (for real) sweat, but no tears, I found the metal behind it to be completely free of rust. Go figure. Finally, do grinding discs come any less coarse than 80 grit or do I need to shop somewhere else?

maybe you can find a dremel tool with small grinding stone attachments. That should be easier to get into the tight spots then a big round grinding disks.

Thanks everyone

Thanks and please accept my apology for a tardy response. I'm back at work and was hit with all sorts of "new" ways we will be doing business this year. Lots to cach up on. I'd love to be able to sand blast but don't know when and if I'll be able to afford it due to some unforseen financial challenges (ex-wife). I'll give the Dremel a try first. Again, thanks for the help.
For Bigredbird, hey that was a big help. I am going to look into that attachment for my Dremel. I think that would be a good tool for the cowel vents, under the battery tray, and all the other nooks and crannies where rust is embedded and laughing at me and my grinder.
