So on to the next item I don't know how to pick since I got so much help with differentials

I need your help understanding the "why's" and selecting a clutch for my car... I figure while the 383 is out and the Stroker is going in now is the time. Whatever is in my car currently the Clutch Pedal is quite stiff.

SO here's the deal... car is essentially a daily driver.. I don't get the chance to side step the clutch often but it's guaranteed to happen every now and then to rubberize the asphalt!

New motor will be putting out approx. 625 lbs torq

Tranny is the stock A833... any help on where to begin is appreciated

Mike

Mike,

I would recommend going with the 18 spline a-833, not the more common 23 spline. With that much torque and some sticky tires you'll break the 23 spline. Get a nice McLeod clutch one rated for 800 hp or so.

What is stock disc diameter and does anyone know what the pressure plate for stock is rated to?

I'll have a look at the 18 spline McLeod's

Your 23 spline will take every thing you can give it period. They cut these 23 splines down back in the day for 5 or 6 hundred hp in chevys n fords. 18 splines trans are only input shaft and bearing size. We have a few 18 splines for sale if you really think you need one.

I'm not sure what to think lol that's why I'm looking for everyone's input.. So given what I described above any specific application/manufacturer you would recommend?

I had your same problem. It's been decades since I run a clutch, and back then a strong clutch was a p.i.t.a. to push the clutch pedal down. I first made sure all the clutch linkage was correct and not worn. Geometry is IMPORTANT. I used a Centerforce Dual friction, and was amazed at how easy the pedal was. ................................MO

I just went through the same thing as you trying to decide on a clutch for my Charger R/T with 18 spline. I ended up going with the Mcleod 75240 Borg & Beck style instead of the diaphragm type. I was told pedal pressure should be about the same as a factory clutch and I will still use the factory over center spring.
