Complete A/C / Heater Repair

I've got a '74 Charger that's in running condition and everything, well.. everything runs but the cooling / heating system.

Is this possible to repair without going to a repair shop and spending loads of cash to fix it? If so can I get a break down of what to do and what to buy?

Yes it is! Like the other fellow mentioned buy a factory service manual.
Would you like to expand on the cooling and heating situation?
Does the engine run hot? DOes it not get up to normal temperature?
Is there a leak in the cooling system? Is the problem only whe you turn on the heater or the A/C?
