Confused on carburetor

I am looking into a AED HO Modified 950 cfm with mechanical secondaries carburetor to replace my Edelbrock 800 cfm carburetor. The AED does not have a choke plate like the Edelbrock. Where would my choke cable go? Do I need to modify my stock fuel pump to run the AED?
 
Your choke cable goes on the wall.
No to the fuel pump mod but the new carb will have different fittings from the Carter/Edelbrock. If your running a hard line to the carb, it may have to be modified.
 
I'm curious as to why you're buying that particular carburetor for your street car?
 
I personally have heard "Good Things" about them....

I'm always happy with Holley and Edelbrock.
 
AED takes Holley carburetors and upgrades them more or less according to the engine builder. I have had a great run with my Edelbrock, but I am putting a set of Indy EZ ported heads on it and more cfm is tempting. I am just confused on why there is not a choke on the carburetor.
 
Because it's a RACE carburetor and race cars don't need chokes. The problem with trick race car parts on a street car is that you need to have the ability to use all the tuning aids. To most people, that is just going to complicate their efforts to make their ride fun. I realize that AED lists their carburetors as street/strip, but if they were being forthright I think they would tell you that it only applies if you really are a 'tuning wizard' and not an average car guy. Just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth...
 
Thanks for the honesty. I rarely use my choke unless my R/T sits for a few weeks. I will keep the Edelbrock for now and see how it holds up after the build.
 
I recently rebuilt my 800 cfm Edelbrock AFB that I bought used (but allegedly rebuilt) years ago. I was never too happy with the performance before. I often had a hesitation on acceleration and even a minor backfire at times when tippng in the throttle. But after cleaning it, putting a kit in it, sorting out the messed up jetting, and carefully adjusting the float level, accelerator pump clearances, etc - it now runs like a champ. Now I can just nail it to the floor from a flat idle and it just instantly responds and smokes the tires. So, if yours is running a little ragged you may want to spend an afternoon going through it and see if it helps.
