Sorry for vague title. I don't know how else to summarize.

First start up of the day is good. Shifts from park to D/R smoothly. ZERO transmission noises. I have to give a little gas to get the car moving when in gear. Brakes fine. Idles well. Everything's good.

Park the car. Go into store. Come out. Turn the key again. Jerks when shifting from park. Not major but still noticeable noises from the transmission (hearing a slight clank). No gas needed to move vehicle. RPM drops and rough idle when braking / stopped in D. Running a little hot.

I assumed with the braking issues that it was probably a vacuum leak somewhere, and intended on hunting that today. Or a timing issue? Vacuum reads around 15-17 right now at idle. I hope this isn't a major issue.

Is the transmission fluid level and condition ok?

did you check the fluid? What do you mean when you say jerks when shifting from park? Forward, backward or clunk?

It just sounds like it’s idling faster once it got warmed up. Do you have a tach? That’s plenty of vacuum unless it’s a very mild stocker. I don’t see any reason that you have any trans issue.

We need more details. Have you had this car very long ? If so any recent mods to engine, trans etc... Just started to happen out of the blue ? Stock engine, trans... Just like going to the Dr. He needs all the info he can get to make a proper diagnosis.

Sounds like the torque converter is causing the drag once warmed up.
Mine did have similar issues due to a too high idle speed, this causes the torque converter to cause too much drag and with that puts a load on the engine at idle.
As you mentioned as well, when cold you need to give a little throttle to start driving but once the transmission is at operating temperature it will start driving straight away.
What is your idle rpm when the engine is at normal operating temperature?

As the gentlemen above mentioned already, the correct fluid level is important.
Check as per maintenance manual, with engine & transmission at operating temperature and in idle, to check the the oil level.
