Console rugs

I received my new console rugs. There were three pieces. One piece had this vinyl sewed into each end. I cannot recall were that went. The other thing was the narrow piece of rug seemed to be cut wrong as it would not fit under the chrome strip. Is it acceptable to trim it? Thanks again you guys are a huge help

Just replaced my carpets last year ('69 Road Runner) and as I recall, they HAD to be trimmed and glued to the console side.
