Hello All,

Does anyone know if it has been done in the past or if it's possible to put an Air Grabber Apperatus on a non Air Grabber stock hood for a 68'RoadRunner. Ideally, I am looking to put a 6-Pack set up on a 68'RR utilizing the stock 383 hood with the AirGrabber set up.

Thanks for the help,
Eric

It would take some very creative engineering and fabrication. I would just go with a '69 hood.

Could you not just add the hood inserts to the 68 Hood?

I looked into doing the same thing on my 69 Coronet. As Coyoteduster mentioned, there's a lot of fab involved. The parts themselves are relatively easy to find by combing the various vendor sites; expect to pay about a grand for everything. Then determine the exact placement of the hood scoops. I finally backed off when I saw that the N96 fresh air hoods had different under hood bracing than the flat hood to accommodate the hardware. You'll be cutting away large sections of the webbing to make it work. Not trying to discourage you, just giving you an idea that there's quite a bit of fabbing involved.

here’s a look of the diagrams...

Possibly you could, the 68 RR hood inserts are blanked off not open,
that part would need to be altered or changed out,
they point to the sides not the top, that's no big deal

also the n96 air cleaner oval type, easiest to find 70 & latter for 6bbl
{not 4bbl} base
if you have a 2 speed wiper motor
it will hit the base & needs to be notched to fit

I've never tried to add a n96 Airgrabber under a 68 RR hood
I'm sure with some forethought & fab skills it can be done,
with mostly stock 1969/70 parts

the 2 speed wiper motor sticks straight out
as opposed to the 3 speed motor that is at a 90* angle

I have a 6bbl on a 383/479ci low deck block, in a 68 RR,
with a 70 & later n96 cold air base & 3" K&N air filter element,
it fit under the OE 68 RR steel hood {I didn't have a n96 Airgrabber either}

the 69.5 6bbls had a flat style base & seal
that mated up-to the A12 lift-off fiberglass hood, completely different

Great info Big Man. Getting the repop hood is the way to go. Oh, and ignore my line about the hood scoops, I was referencing the Coronet instead of the RR.
