Coolant leak

Fired up my 73 satty today and noticed a lot of smoke from the engine bay. Opened her up and saw a lovely waterfall of coolant seeping from this part and sizzling as it dripped down.

I thought it might have been a Crack in the hose, but it looked like it might have been coming from the housing itself.

this is the water temp control valve, right? My question is, does anyone know the part number for this? I can't find one that looks similar to this one. Do I even need it? Can I just take a piece of pipe and bypass it for the time being?
