Correct engine color for 66 383

As someone else said there are many more things to consider when looking at a 1966 Charger than an original engine. In fact you can never be 100% sure it is the original engine. Color won't tell you that. The best you can hope for is that the date code is correct for that car. I do understand your desire for it to be the original however. We all want that

What engine it was born with is more important to me.

IE- is it a real 383-4 car?

It's a '66 Charger, outside of it being a Hemi car no one at the shows will care. They'll pass by them unless it's a Hemi car and even still for a short visit. I love the 66, I've owned one in the past. But just speakin' the brutal truth. If having the original engine is a personal preference that will make you sleep better at night, then go for it.
