If you'd like a product that looks like Cosmoline but isn't sticky & is more durable look at Krylon Battery Protector... I used it back in 95 & the control arms still look good 27 years & 100,000 miles later...

Since a few folks have reacted to this post I guess I'll explain a little more in-depth...

BTW, First I use Seymour Stainless steel paint as a base under the battery protector....

Back when I came up with this method I'd bought Cosmoline in a spray can... It looked horrible & it didn't dry, stayed sticky....

I was looking for something that looked like real cosmoline which I'd seen plenty of haven't spent time in the Navy where they store lots of old stuff & that stuff is exposed to salt water...

I tried a few things then remembered how the battery protector stuff was a transparent yellow/brown depending on how much you apply... Which means you can lay it on till it's mostly golden with runs that are brown.. Just like real cosmoline... But it's acid proof, not effected by harsh cleaner, dries to the touch in about 15 minutes.... After I posted about itt back in 2003 or so I got lots of guys trying it & saying it was the best fake cosmoline they'd ever tried....

Like I said in my first post... hit the member restoration threads. Mine is stickied at the top and is close to OE, Justin's GTX thread is a step up on many things and damn near as close to how a car came out of the factory that you'll find.
Any link to the GTX thread?

Justin's (moparnation74) GTX thread is a sticky at the top of the page right there with mine. If you go to my thread the first post gives you a link to Dodgecharger DOT com, where my thread actually starts running from tear down until where this forums postings catch up to it. So the first 35 pages are not on this forum....

You’ll have to zoom in, but here’s a picture from a Mopar restoration book discussing front suspension colors.

There’s some misinformation in that article

K frame 80% black (semi-gloss)
Sway bar and torsion bars gloss black
LCA natural with cosmoline
UCA could be natural or semi gloss black
Steering linkage natural
Steering gear natural or black
Shocks are black
Steering knuckles are natural

That’s why I painted everything to simulate OEM finishes, hopefully it will keep the rust at bay.

Yeah, my green car has over 100K since I restored it... I painted with the typical assorted steel/iron/cosmoline finishes back in 96 & it all still looks pretty good...

But since the O/P posted "What are the correct factory colors" the reality is truly correct is rust... Now if he'd asked what people were using to replicate OE then we try to make stuff look showroom not six months later living in Newark....

Ok, I tried this and it worked fantastically however, the battery protector never dried/hardened. It has been a week now and it still readily rubs off with the swipe of the thumb. It looks great until i touch it. I used Seymour Stainless Steel Paint followed with CNC Marine Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor (couldn't find Krylon). It looks great but the inhibitor continues to be easily rubbed off. I even tried to clear coat it once it was sprayed to no avail. Any suggestions?

You know it. Seymours first. Great protection hands down. Then the Satin Bronze.
Bronze not brown. 10-4?

Changing to the CRC is where the problem began... Your gonna have to strip them & try again... I see some places showing the Krylon product & some show it as unavailable.... If you can't get it I'd probably use the paint which IMO doesn't look nearly as much like cosmoline as the battery protector but who really looks at the bottom of the car when it doing 65 MPH going down the road...
