Hi guys, I just tried to fit a new speedo cable for my 67 383 manual and its around 2-3 inches short, I have it installed on the shortest path I could find and everywhere I look says that it should be 63.5 inch but I reckon it needs to be closer to 70 inch. Anyone else had this issue? Am I doing something wrong with feeding it through the bulk head?

Is the cable hugging the floor pan all the way to the transmission? I know on 68-70 bodies, there are two clips to secure the cable. Careful not to get any kinks or sharp bends in the cable.

Yep I have it nice and tight running straight from the trans along the floor up the bulk head and in through the grommet level with the speedo.

Wow....I do remember my cable being tight for length as well.....I know that probably doesn't help much. :(

I've found that it's OK to use a longer speedometer cable as long as it's not too, too long. If it's like 12" too long you might get kinks like kiwigtx mentioned.
