Country Classics Burns

This is a real tragedy.
These cars are irreplaceable

They're saying that 150 cars burned. I've been there a couple of times - there are lots of old cars and trucks packed into those buildings with just enough room to get around in there. Mostly good project starting material in the buildings - the best ones are on display outside along the fence bordering I-55. Most of them were on consignment. It was interesting to walk through the buildings and see what was there.

Yikes--50 plus years of rotting in in barns couldn't do what happened in a few hours here.
Insurance??

This will be a 3 ring circus before it's all over. The state fire marshall is investigating it trying to determine the cause of the fire. Many insurance investigators will be involved as well. It will be interesting to hear how many try to claim that their old car was in pristine condition - which there were very few, if any, in that condition anywhere on the premises.

I've thought of letting a dealer sell one of my old cars on consignment in the past, and this is one of the reasons I didn't, too many polished turds setting around with iffy electrical systems and rusty/leaky gas tanks. Also too much risk for damage of other types, Employees taking joy rides, etc....

I think most insurance companies won't pay out if your car is under consignment. Maybe the dealers insurance company will though.

Lots of classic firetrucks working hard too! Man!

I was wrong about most of them on consignment - according to one news report I saw, they said that only about 5% were on consignment that the owner of the business owned most of the inventory.

I'm really surprised there wasn't a nearby fire-hydrant! For sure a few cars would have survived, if the firefighters didn't have to truck in the water!
