Anyone one ever make a custom 3/4" - 1" tall air filter 12.5" round?

Of course I have an unslienced cleaner but it is too tall so the only way I can think of making it work is to use a custom made filter.

Off the top of my head the Ford Hi Po element is a 14" x 2-1/4" and those are easy to find. Otherwise to find one to your dimensions may require spending time looking through a catalog at an auto parts store.

It is an elusive item never to be found. Wondering if anyone with a performer RPM eddy carb and 1/2" space is able to run an unslienced air cleaner and be able to close the hood? lol.

Made my own filter with hvac foam and plastic 1" tall still could stand to loose a 1/2". going to get a fram ca305 and see what it's like cutting it down most likely will have to buy two since the first one always turns into the destroyed prototype lol

It's not the exact same thing, but maybe this idea helps you. I used a K&N 14"" drop base along with the factory lid. It gave me the extra 1" - 1.5" clearance I needed.

The picture doesn't give the best detail but you can see how low the air cleaner sits on my Edelbrock carb.

I thought of doing what you describe too but a 1" tall element might choke your big block a bit.

My factory drop pan is only 13" I have a eddy 14" drop pan but the factory lid is the same diameter...the filter area on the factory drop pan is 12.5" They make filters that size that are 2" tall but I need to either take out the 1/2" spacer or not use the unslienced tin. Right now I have a home made filter in there about 1" tall and smashed as far down as I can get it and still have clearance issue rear of hood sticks up, I had to loosen the hinges or I wouldn't be able to close the hood guess it's kind of a cowl induction now lol still sucks I want that unslienced look I would think by this time in history some one has figured it out?
