I remember as a kid seeing the hand spay painted signs, GAS WARS, and my Dad stopping to fill up. Gas was running .11 to .13 cents a gallon and the lowest I remember seeing during the 'war' was .09 cent a gallon. When Dad bought me my first car, a 67 Camaro, I started driving at .26 cent a gallon and then the Arab oil embargo hit in 74...gas shot to .50 a gallon WHEN available and America shut down. I remember reading that their were still wing cars that had not sold and some dealers were taking any offer to get rid of them. The big motor cars were flooding back in as trades and they were cheap and plentiful , nobody wanted them much. AAaaaahhhhh , the days....
