I put in a new, not a recond. dash circuit board and a new light switch and a new ign. switch. Now the dash lights come on with the key switch (they did not come on at all previously) as well as with the light switch, thus they are on all the time, neither will they dim with the headlight switch. The orange wire on the plug that affixes to the circuit is the one that makes the dash lights work. I know all the wires on the plug are in the right place, per the SM. Dont seem to be able to track the feedback that is making the dash lights on all the time. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Dave

Did you re-install the screws that hold the gauge panel in the dash too. Not sure if that will cause that to happen but the gauge panel grounds to the dash frame and if it's not grounded, I know all sorts of weird things take place....

Yeah, I buttoned it back up. But when I bolted the steering shaft back in place and got all done, everything worked perfectly. I figured all along it was a ground problem. Dave

There is a ground wire on the steering column that Ive always wondered exactly where it should be bolted to. The only place I could find to connect to is one of the mounting bolts that holds the column to the dash. Does anyone know if this is correct? It seems unnecessary to ground the column to the dash when the entire column is bolted to the dash.

MGN...this thread is almost 4 years old.

Yes, I realized that after my post. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Thanks for the alert.
