daylight savings time

I say we move it forward another hour & lock it.... It'll be 0 dark thirty when going to work but there will still be sun shining when you get home...

The company that I mainly work with is owned by a guy with STRANGE sleep habits.
He often wakes up at midnight or 1:00 AM, drives to the office to do paperwork, then to the job. We used to start at the half hour closest to sunrise but over the past couple of years, we had jobs away from residents so we were able to start at 6:00 or 6:30 regardless of the time of year. Because of that, we all started wearing those hardhat mounted bright halogen lights to see. Sometimes it was dark for about an hour before the sun was up.
The owner leaves the job at quitting time, eats at home then goes to sleep and the cycle begins again. He is tired and sleepy by quitting time so the earlier we start, the sooner he can get home to sleep. If the guys would be willing to start at 4:00 AM or earlier, he would probably LOVE it!
Try operating forklifts, power saws, walking scaffold, taking measurements when it is PITCH black!

In Ct June 21 sunrise 4:16am est 5:16am dst.. Who wants the sun to come up at 4:16am?

I did the go to work in the dark and come home in the dark routine, yes it sucks. We worked a 4 days 12 hours on, 4 days off . Worked 162 days if you had 2 week vacation 158 days with 3weeks vak 154 days with 4 weeks vak. Working 3 Sat/Sundays in a row then a Sunday the following week then 3 Sat/Sundays off. They wanted to keep the machines running 24 hrs 7 days a week. One year I work 9 out of 10 holidays and made $5,000 extra. Thank God I made it to retirement!!!
I worked the offshift for much of the 26 years in a refinery and that meant working most holidays unless they fell on my regular days off. Doesn't matter anymore though....

Well, I live on the Florida coast, and my commute to work is driving due East most of the time, so it SUCKS driving in when the sun is just coming up. I like coming in before it rises. :)
About 1/2 of my trip to work when I worked day shift was driving into the sun.....sucked.

Summertime is fast approaching here, and Daylight Savings has been in a few weeks now. I can get home from a decent day at work, and still have time to mow my lawn and have a beer or 3 afterwards.

I also prefer winter....only because you can dress for winter, and we don't get snow where I live.

Winter sucks. The cold sucks. The fog sucks. Overcast skies? It sucks. Short daylight hours sucks. Excessive rain sucks.

That's what the stresses of business ownership does to a guy.

I concur on that one.

Personally I like daylight savings. More sunshine in the evening rocks.
