daylight savings time

My dogs know when it's their dinner time, (5 pm) and they start breakin' my balls at about 4:58 everyday, like clockwork. Today they're giving me attitude because they have to wait another hour.

I hate the clocks being set back

there's no saving, at all,
if anything it adds more cost to light places etc.
just dark an 1hr earlier, no good sense

serves no real good purpose

I call this time of year "daylight wasting time". The daylight gets shorter, so lets change the clocks so we get even LESS of it after work, when industrious people have things to do!
And the bullshot that "we're doing it for the children" (that expression makes me nauseous, cause it never really is!) wont wash. Just move the start of SCHOOL back if it's that f-ing neccessary, that they don't stand in the dark. Why penalize all the rest of us?And how many kids are taking the bus anymore? A friend lives just off a street in socal with five schools within about ten blocks. You avoid that street like the plague at school hours, not to avoid the buses, but the eight thousand parents dropping off or picking up their kids in cars.

Let's think about this -old- topic of changing the clocks twice a year.
Who did this?-and why?
Who can kick this nonsense to the curb?-and why not?

Those that are hired to make our lives better and smoother seem to be currently preoccupied. :)

I know that I am in general discussion with my comments but something -like this- inevitably leads to a root of an issue for which this is a good example.

"Lawmakers" is a term used for those that the public hires to do good for the whole.

Apparently those hired to make rules and laws have no time for -cleaning house. -No time to rid our house of ridiculous clutter. --Who can do the duty of cleaning our mess other than those hired to do so??

Question--Is the public expected to individually decide which laws/rules are stale?
Anyone that has been involved with cleaning a house filled with useless clutter may get my point.

Personally I would like to see -those that we hire/vote for tend to our relevant business by first pulling their arrogant heads out of their asses and serve their voters.

Some kids have to travel distances to go to school.... Its safer if it gets lighter earlier in the morning.

That's true to those who are on the eastern side of a particular time zone, but those on the western side of that same time zone are still going to school in the dark.

For instance.....

Sunrise in Bangor ME today is 6:18 am while sunrise in Indianapolis IN is 7:18 am.
Sunset in Bangor ME today is 4:18 pm while sunset in Indianapolis IN is 5:38 pm.

I've always thought it needed to be about half way between.

I also thought the rest of the world would hate us if we did that.

Interestingly, As I am setting up a few new computers today and needed to set the time zone...I just happened to come across a precedent for a :30 minute time zone-

The Marquesas Islands.

They are GMT -9:30.

Here in Canada, Newfoundland is also on the half hour. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newfoundland_Time_Zone
Whenever there's an upcoming television or radio ad, it's usually something like "Such and such show tonight at 7 o'clock, 7:30 in Newfoundland".
