I have a hard time parting a good car just because it has 4 doors.I would only part if there was no hope for the car ever to be road worthy. Maybe just flip it to make money. Somebody wouldn't mind owning it. My 2 cents.

I was looking at a 4 door 65 Belvedere that recently came up in my area. I could use it for parts for my wife's 65 wagon. It was too nice to part out. The guy (someone I know) said he was going to get it running. I said he should and then just drive it.

If the car is originally from your locale and as you mention rust free it would be a shame to part it out. The guy I bought a '63 vert from got it from an elderly lady in Pasadena in '89 and was real solid; but a car this old will likely have some rusting somewhere as I eventually found out when doing a major redo on it two years ago. I bought it in '95. Nothing major but ended up replacing the lower trunk pan and a small section of the left quarter where the side trim is set. Couple other areas but no big issues. You don't really find this stuff until stripping it down. There's other issues with your decisions of course, if you are getting it for cheap and wanting to make some cash then flipping might give you some extra cash or parting might do the same. Also though are the mechanical's/motor/trans/diff/suspension, etc. that may need attention to make it a safe driver. This could involve some serious cash and/or time depending on what you can do, or if you need to have someone do it, if these matters are in the mix. Again my 1st opin for what it's worth is might be a nice survivor car for you or someone..

I wouldn't part the car just for the reason that it takes forever to sell parts. Especially an oddball car like a 62 Savoy.

              From my own experience:

Rust free front fenders, $300-375 each, but take a long time to sell
Rust free trunk lid, $200-250 and sell pretty quickly. Careful though, I've seen CA ones that have rust in weird, not obvious places
Rust free hood, $100-150 and sell somewhat quickly. Understructure rust is the problem with these
4 door doors, maybe $35- 50 each. Tough to sell.
Dash, complete $100, in parts you can net a bit more.
Bumpers, if straight a still shine somewhat, $50-75 each and sell pretty quickly
Savoy side trim sells very well. Minimum $35-50 per piece if straight. Front fenders and rear quarter trim can bring upwards of $60-75 each if straight
Nice steering wheel, $50-100 with horn ring/button
Radio grille if decent easy $45 up
              Stick pedals $150 up
Misc window trim, $10-35 per piece depending on how nice
              Grille, $35-100 depending on condition.
Hood ornament $35-60 depending on chrome and plastic insert condition. Savoy more valuable
Trunk ornament, about same as hood.
              Trunk lip trim, $15-20 ea
Headlight rings, outer, $75 ea for straight ones, inners not so valuable
              Inner headlight frames, $25 ea
Window mechanisms, unique to 62 and 63 and can be made to work on a 2 door, $15-20 each if clean and work freely
Trunk lock assembly with key, $35
              Rear glass, $35-50

Rear end, k member, front suspension, transmission cross member, minimal resale value. 3rd member might bring $100 depending on gear set.

Not enough '62s left so parting out a good car would be a sin. Nothing wrong with a clean 4 door survivor, somebody will love it.

I've seen many 4 doors with the back two handles taken off and the look is fine. The more 2 doors that disappear make 4 doors more desirable. They are reasonable to buy and can be found in great shape. Done right they're a blast to own. IMO

Must it be about the money? Driven the EVIL 2WN 30,000 miles now daily to work and wherever else. Never garaged. As you can see, someone else took the front sheet metal for a 2-door Fury before I found it. Yes straightened and re-chromed bumpers(Faith Plating. No longer in business.) better than many show cars and holding up very well after 5 years. Stainless is all straightened and polished. The only 63 Fury to my knowledge with hardwood floors. A clogged condensation line on the under-dash A/C rotted out the floors. I get splashed on my right side when driving in heavy rain. I've had way, way more fun with this than any of my 2-door cars or wagons. Stock poly 318 and a dual exhaust with turbo mufflers. Heck, I paid more for the dual exhaust than the whole car! It takes a tad longer to get to speed, but runs 90 mph with ease and laser straight alignment, pinky-effort steering. Thanks fellow FBBO member, BillCCM, for repairing the original Model 216 so the middle of the dash has a light and sweet AM talk radio coming from the front and rear speakers. Just got that back in the dash last night. I'll never get out financially what I've put in but this ride has paid me back in satisfaction beyond labor and parts over and over again.

All the unmarked mopar cop cars from the 60's were sought after and restored. And they had 4 doors! Absolutely do not part it!
