decking original block

Well I got a hold of him yesterday morning and he decked it..... He admitted he forgot / never made the note on the card to the machinist in the shop NOT to deck the block, as I originally requested. As you can imagine he was very apologetic. Im not happy..

69 block, your VIN is stamped on the pan rail on the block.
That set of numbers is what matches the block to the car.
As far as I recall the pad info will give you year , hp or not, under size bearings ect. But not a match to the car.

As far as i am concerned, that would make his machine shop bill $ZERO. Or less.
I would have to disagree. The work was performed, and he should be compensated for that work, irrespective of the error. There is a thing called a "mechanics lien", either bill gets paid, or after a set time, you can sell the item for the amount due. I have done this a few times, but for items that the customer abandoned because he did not want to pay the bill. There are other ways to compensate the customer in this instance.

Now, that aside, the machine shop should have been more careful to follow the customers requests. And people wonder why I won't hire people! I treat my customers stuff like they would themselves, and do what they request-within reason. If something cannot be done, I tell them up front.
