I also see the locating tab of the rotor is broken off in the notch on the shaft. It looks likeyou may have problems other than abroken rotor. You must ask "why". I would be tempted to **** can that distributor and get one from Halifaxhops that you know is right and has wuality parts inside.

As mentioned, have seen it before several times, when someone installs the cap, if it is slightly askew, the edge of the spring contact can get hung up on the side of the cap center contact or the caps molded contact support. Will run somewhat normally for a while before the rotor spring contact suffers metal fatigue as it is bent off to one side riding around the outside circumference of the cap center contact, before eventually breaking off.
