Did any 426 wedges show up in early 66 cars?

That is interesting. Don’t think I ever heard of or saw a 440 with a 365 hp sticker or rating that I remember. Sort of makes sense though as except for a couple tenths rated compression, it was probably pretty much identical to the 426/365 engine. Maybe it carried a 365 hp rating with dual exhaust and 350 hp with single exhaust.
These engines did not have the improved bigger valve "915" heads that came out in 1967. They used the same heads as 383. Correct about dual exhaust h.p. ratings vs. single exhaust.

I don't know if its correct or not or if this car had previous work or not, but a friend pulled a 440 from a 66 imperial 36K miles. It had 915 small valve heads, log manifolds and single exhaust. He installed it in a 61 Dodge Phoenix as is. The only exception was dual exhaust.

I once pulled a 440 from a 1966 Chrysler 300 and tore it down. It had a small valve "915" on one side and a regular 383 head on the other.

You win the prize, and the cam might have been different. It might have been a Windsor built car, don’t know if they were different. He lived on Vancouver Island.

The 440 in the car used oil from the beginning. My Uncle had passed away, My very older responsible cousin was driving with my aunt to see my cousins son. Ran it out of oil about 47,00 miles. Still under warranty, factory replaced the engine. Somehow my brother got the engine, heads and block, can’t remember if anything else. Sent the block to a rebuilder, there was a fire block was done. Heads were salvaged, they were 516’s. Those heads are on a fairly quick first generation and still in the family today.

My '66 Imperial has its original 440. I've never had the valve covers off so I don't know what heads it has.

That’s not bad actually. A lot of standard issue (base engine, high gears, loaded power accessories), so-called muscle cars in 65 - 68, especially Ford and GM, were in the high 15s and even low 16s in those magazines back then. I think there were some pretty lazy drivers.

What was TNT supposed to mean?

No, I never knew him.

I thought that the 440/365 took over from the 426/365 for ‘66. Being so similar I guess it wouldn’t be much of a shock if they mixed a little.
The 440 was a regular option on all 66 Furys.
