Doug can you post about your weekend of racing. Waiting until Monday is tough. :D As long as it doesn't interfere with racing.

This weekend was a struggle again. Weather was hot. Track was hot and slippery. Friday made 1 hit at 9.00 index. Decided to go to 9.25. 2nd hit got out of the roove immediately and lifted. Haven't tried to slow the car since 2020 with the Eddy carbs. So now into eliminations with 6 degrees of timing pulled. Way to quick, poor stripe driving and late. Saturday I decide 9.00 or bust. Removed the pass seat and weight bar brackets. Ran with only 2 1/2 gallons of fuel. Track was greasy. Tried shock settings, tire pressure, different burnouts. Got it somewhat consistent. But a few curve ball runs doomed me. Got thru rds 1&2 on good lights. Went to rd 3 against good Friend Jeff Day. He new I couldn't run the number. I knew he could run +/- .01. My only chance was a killer light. Went -.009. Didn't matter as it spun and Jeff was .015. Sunday Q1 was decent. Run #2 spun again. E1 left with a good light saw smoke right after the 1/2 and lifted. Broke the trans cooler. Fluid everywhere. Fortunately the cooler is mounted under the car between the sub frame connector and the tunnel. The entire middle of the car was covered all the way up to the deck lid. Zero fluid outside either connector or frame rail. Tires stayed fluid free. These are Saturday and Sundays runs.

Similar story here. Record heat in south Louisiana and Mississippi. Struggling with the last (that I can think of) big project at the vacation house, finished putting up the wooden fence. Hope to be able to start working on my car for the first time in a year and a half.
:)
Thanks for the detailed report on your track experience. There's so much "work" involved in what you're doing, and I respect and appreciate it.
Regardless of all the money my upgrades have and will cost me, I am just going to pick up an occasional "grudge race", but there are 2 long time friends with track cars and one I may not be able to beat, but it will be close enough to keep me motivated to try.

Fixing the car every week bites. At least you got to race.
I thrashed on my transmission all week then Magnolia cancelled Sunday morning because of the forecast. No rain all day.

That's what I was thinking, and Doug's reports are detailed and helpful.

That's happened here a few times. It seems wrong, "cowardly" for a track to do that, and after you or anyone working so hard, sacrificing time and effort for a track to seem to "take the easy way out" and not "work to be open" is a pisser.

When a person decides to go racing, broken parts follow, especially when you have as much power as Doug has. I learned first hand how to break parts and then fix them.
Weather sure can be a bitch, drive 300 miles to a track and have three days of downpour.
