Ok, so here is how I worked with this problem. I have done several restorations on cars, with my kids (2), brother, brother in law, and helped others. I just got over it and went to Harbor Freight and bought entire Wrench sets, and other tools for loan out. Even today, I still have only a few half inch and 9 sixteenths wrenches to my name. I have a good set of tools and they will not come out UNTIL I am done with other's projects. I care about those folks and will always care about them and appreciate their friendship and will always want to have friends around, but when I loan a tool, I do not expect it to come back. If it does, I love it. Otherwise, I have come to the conclusion that a 9 sixteenths wrench is, well, not that expensive. At one time, I had THREE total sets of Wrenches, Sockets (both half inch and 3 eighths) on the wall. They need it, they can come get it. It is my gift so those who came to my house and let themselves in. Does it make me wonder??? Yep, but as I say, I go to Harbor Freight and can buy an entire wrench set for $20 bucks. Today, when I look at my decent set of Craftsman, I see some Harbor Fret tools mixed in. Do I like that?? Nope, but when I think about it, I remember that those missing tools were part of a build for someone who I cared about (and they may be now gone), so I am ok with some getting out of the shop. I will say this, one day unexpected, I went down to the shop and on my bench were about half dozen Half and 9 sixteenth wrenches just sitting there. Who brought them back?? Just my take on how I have dealt with tools leaving the shop. Oh, the welder, hot wrench, and the plasma cutter stays here, NO EXCEPTIONS. Best to you all, B.
