Holy thread resurrection Batman!
Thanks for sharing!! I had the same times with my wife's family, more laid back than my family, but, great people who learned to love me as time went by. I missed them all very much. It's now my wife, daughter and my brother. Life is short, enjoy it while you can.Get-togethers can be bittersweet at times for me...these days it's mostly my wife's family(which I love dearly)as most of mine is gone. They are wonderful people that have never treated me like anything other than one of their own, but they're a little more let's say 'reserved' than my family growing up. We had Armenians, Irish Okies, Germans..but all 100% American. Those old-timers...bringing a whole lamb to roast on a giant spit for hours. A deer or a pig in a bbq pit, liquor brought back from someone's recent rip to 'the old country', huge bonfires...I can still smell the Oak wood burning. The people, the food, the stories...such beautiful chaos.
I try to stay focused on the 'now', WE are the parents and on our way (hopefully) to old-timer status..cherish it. It slips away in the blink of an eye..
so true ,always take my own

yes I do
Submit and I only have the family members over that we don't dread.
To answer the original question, yes. I love being with my wife and kids but as the family has grown there are some relatives I have a really hard time dealing with. They need one of these.
