From the early 80's. My son is now 21 and of course he missed that era. We have a 1981 Dodge Ram 50 (Really a Mitsubishi.) Bryce has his 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 jacked way up, to where I have to pull myself in with my arms. Now he's starting on the "Little Black Truck." That's what it's name has always been. Well for awhile it was the "Ugly Little Black Truck. It just rolled over 100K but it is sweet. The black body shined right up and is very straight. It's the Royal not Sport. Now it's lowered a few inches.

It has always been in the family since new. My Uncle Ora bought it then gave it to Dad. Dad has passed away but he had always overloaded it and bogged it. so we had the tranny/clutch redone. Bryce is so excited he was out working on the springs in a hard rainstorm. His head was dry but the rest was soaked. It's the big 4 cyl,, 2.6L with a 5 speed.

I just let him do whatever he wants to do to it. He's a good boy. Ill try to show it when he's done but here is an advertising shot. Ours has the classy pin stripes not the garish body grfx. dodge d50 1979.jpg

I always liked that truck. I almost bought that same model back in 81, and it looked just like that picture. Good luck with the project.

In '79, the C-P dealer I worked at had one had a Plymouth Arrow pickup (same rig) as a parts runner, Great little truck!

My Bud has a mint Dodge Ram 50 4X4
I personally own:
1. 1988 Toyota 4X4 Restored
2. 1986 Nissan "720" 4X4 pickup (being restored now)

I've had several of them over the years. Were great and easy to work on .But now that I'm older I have a harder time getting in and out of them. Still have an 82 with the turbo diesel in it. Probably should be finding a new home for it as I don't see me using it any more.

Yep, I had a new one of the 82 Plymouth Arrow trucks. 2.6L 5 speed manual. Dang thing was pretty peppy. Lost it in my Divorce (83), sigh...

is this truck blue , or was it? do you have a picture of it ? I would seriously like to see it

Yep, I remember them. I remember when my father-in-law bought a brand new one in 1980, 2.6 and 5 speed.

Black with Blue interior. I'll get a picture. My Uncle Ora bought it in Northern CA. No rust. He took the silver wheels with hub caps off and found a set of spoke rims. They have been black, Grey and now white. Bryce waxed for about 3 hours last evening.

He won't do his laundry but he has that truck spit-polished.
