DOGS

sorry about Mopar, it really sucks..... props for adopting, I'm sure he will bring you great joy and help with the healing
Thank you sir! Max is a great pup, he’s about two. It’s amazing how the breeds characteristics carry through.

Newest cop dog...

Westies rule.... One of my bud's from the past "Rodman"

Westies are very intelligent and love to go places. She is all of 12 lbs and 15 months old. Loves anything to do with water and she is always genuinely happy to see you when you get home. Great car dog from day 1.

We had to put down our Shep/Rottweiler mix the year before, she was 14.5 years old and 90 lbs.

We just adopted a 2 year old boxer in June. We lost our Mopar in March. He was an 8 1/2 year old boxer we had since 8 weeks old. He developed a neurological disorder that took him down in literally 3 months. Went from a healthy 76 lbs. powerhouse to not hardly being able to stand. There was nothing they could do. He went to sleep in my arms just as he had done most of his life. Still think about him everyday.
So sorry for your loss, it's not easy!

This is Penny...her mom was a pug/Boston terrior mix. We got her as a rescue as a tiny puppy. Now she is a 70lb lap dog...and we spend hours at our house looking for the matching shoe.:)

My son was grilling burgers last night, and had the four patties all seasoned and ready on the countertop to go to the grille. In one swift move, my big Ruby took two raw burger patties from the counter and inhaled them! Crazy bitch, but she did take advantage of a target of opportunity. My son was pissed! The dog figured out real quick that the meat was NOT her "good dog!" treat. She sulked over to the couch and watched the TV while we got dinner on.

I was watching an old Western the other night on TV (remember those?)...anyway, I'm in the recliner and my Ruby is on the couch, watching intently as a pack of dogs is chasing the cowboy, They're making all kinds of racket, and my dog joins right on in! Barking and growling, she was hilarious as she "joined" the pack on TV to get the cowboy! Funny AF, gotta say!

I read somewhere that a dog can actually see with clarity, what is on an HDTV. With the old CRT tube-type televisions, an image couldn't be seen easily on the screen by a dog, because of the scan rate, IIRC. If I turn into a program with animals, she'll watch intently, and bark with or at the dogs on-screen. It's so funny to watch her to do that!

Human eye take 16 pictures a second. Dogs eye take 32 pictures a second. If somehow our brain took 32 picture second everything would be in slow motion. Wonder what a dog perceives?

I've been working in the basement building a shop. This is the first time in 17 years or so I haven't had to worry about all the noise with my dog being gone now. I realize how much time was invested in making life good for an old blind friend. I find myself still closing all doors behind me and checking to make sure things are in order for someone who isn't here anymore. We miss her that's for sure.
Fran, I'm not sure exactly what dogs see or don't see, but I found this interesting.
