DOGS

Human sandwich with a topping of cat.

It was fairly cool in the house, high 50's. Got up not long after that.

You know how dogs jump up on things, like jumping up on the bed?
My Newfoundlands don't do that. They crawl up on the bed like a large bear would climb up on some rocks. At 160 pounds jumping isn't isn't really what they do. At dinner time they get excited and
they bounce a bit like a bear, but no jumping

Strider goes in his crate to get away from the puppy, pup follows him in.

My chocolate lab, Elvis 7 y/o now
you wanna' ----
Ball/s he has like 5 different balls, all with different names
tire, decoy, stick, Elmo (stuffed) he can identify & bring the exact toys
hunt em up
(birds, especially the woodpeckers on the house, sets him off),
play/fetch indoors/retrieves in the hallway
get the kitty, his mortal enemies :poke:
(we have lots of kitties here '6' that belong to 4 neighbors/3 just to 1,
I don't mind them they are good at keeping down the mice population
),
get the squirrel/get Rocky
(a big male grey squirrel that messes with him)
get the turkeys
get the deer
get the yoties
we have quite a few of them all

especially 'go outside' ?
his main activity, on the hr every hr, like he tells time
or 'go for a ride' ? that's a special one
or cookie/buscuit ?
Puperroni ? last time he goes out for the night
you hungry ?/eat dinner ?
he lies by my side, when we eat at the table,
he's there before I put the plates with food on the table
go check your bowl
(means treats/or left his ball/toy in there) etc.
those types of commands, he gets all excited, bounces off his front feet

like clockwork, right at 10:30pm 'without prompting'
he will go sit at my dad's feet, stare at him
he gets some loven' before dad goes to bed
&
I take him for a walk out to the mailbox,
I think, that is the key thing...

'go see Bodie' (my cousin Stan's 3 y/o female yellow lab),
'go to Twain Harte' (mean go to my aunt's place) he spins & barks sometimes
it's funny

go see grampa ? (my dad)
he hauls *** after I let him in, after he pees
(he used to piddle all the damn time, when dad would 1st pet him,
especially after coming in from the truck, it was really frustrating
)
to see him in the mornings, dad's/grandpa's breakfast/treats
lick the plate/bowl (labs are all very food motivated)
I close my bedroom door at night, so he doesn't mess with dad
& Elvis sleeps in my room, usually in his kennel, sometimes on the bed

Elvis gets all excited to see 'his grampa'

Elvis has about a 60+ish word recognition, maybe more,
mostly toys or commands

My brothers( @Dodge Bros) dog Boulder was a great dog RIP.
He had a great farm life. I enjoyed spoiling him. Some pictures of him rabbit watching from the combine that I took last fall, one with my nephew behind the wheel. It sure is hard to let them go. Just makes me want to spoil mine all the more.
A little tribute...he crossed the bridge last night.

Gotta love labs, I'm on like #6 since I was a lil' boy & my dad
(had a bunch of fosters/resues rehomed too)
had 2) Flash a Yellow Lab & Barron a few years younger Black Lab
I spent countless hrs with them
they slep on my bed too, followed me to school, (1/2 mile away)
they would many times be outside the school, when I got out, sitting there waiting,
kids petting them, walking by & they just stay there, wait
my parents could hardly keep them from doing it, school was OK with it...
(different time & place, better era)

my last 4)
The Duke (black) probably my best dog I ever owned 15+ years
almost never wore a leash, didn't need it
(Ignore time/date stamps & **** quality, photos of photos)
Budnicks Dog Duke.JPG

Dan the Man (white/yellow) one of Duke's pups 14+ years
died soon after Duke, I think he died being lonely, missing his dad
they spent every waking hr together (sorry photo of a polaroid photo)

Lord Budnicks of --- (chocolate) my 'Namesake' here, great dog 16+ years
Buddy Loven #1.JPG

Elvis Budnicks --- (chocolate) he's 7 now, cute lil' bugger
Bubba' the foster dog in the background, he's at his forever home down in the valley
Elvis & Bubba 7-27-2015 8-weeks on deck (2).JPG

I had other breeds too, American Staffordshire Terriers, Alfred & Baby (no digital photos) great dogs
my sisters usually had a lot of Shepherds & Malinois
but I still gravitate to labs

my condolences on your loss of a loyal furry friend
