dream car or harley

simple which do you want more?

I owned five Harley's between 2000 and 2008. Low rider, Heritage classic, fatboy, FXD35 and Road glide. They were all a loss, except the first and second. I got smart and got rid of them. Today they are depreciating quickly, as Harley is producing more and more all the time. I would get rid of that bike and don't look back. sell it, trade it, whatever. I still ride, but I bough a cheaper bike that I enjoy, and don't suffer through that 15-18k sitting in my garage.

I would never sell my Road King to buy another muscle car. A cool bike AND a cool car is the setup. Ride or drive to the cruise.
As to an earlier post, machinery isn't obnoxious, but the operator might be.

More of the mopar nocar mentality????????

Boy doesn't this thread ring a bell from a conversation earlier today eh Jay? LOL :thinker:

To the poster.......Do what makes you happy. If a '70 goat is gonna get you your kix more than the bike, buy it.

A couple of years in a row I was lusting after a triple black 68 GTO that I see in Reno. 4 speed. Ragtop. Hideaways. Air. If I was considering it, I don't think I'd ask here. Besides, I need a 71 B and 70 E first.

If you don't want another Mopar in your stable, then go for it, I can't imagine the GTO being so cheap that you couldn't just get another Chrysler product instead, but, GTO's are cool too, but as mentioned earlier, if I were to get a GTO, it wouldn't be that year, maybe a 66-67, but being an avid bike guy, it would be hard to go without a bike for any real length of time during the summer.

My foot is tapping "three dueces and a 4 speed", but I remember the 400 Firebird a friend had. Manual steering and brakes. Copper color with a black vinyl roof. 4 speed. Scared the **** out of me with that.

Only thing though, you might get sick of that particular one.

Exactly. That blower sticking out of the hood may give you a wow factor & a rush and it's something we all dreamed about as kids, but I guarantee that rush will wear off quickly.

Same goes with AC Cobra kit cars. Ever wonder why there are so many low mileage ones for sale? It's the same reasoning.

I just sold my 2012 Street Glide to help fund the completion of my 69 RR vert restoration.
My rationale is that I can enjoy the car more. I've always wanted my car finished, and bought the bike to pacify my need for a toy during the restoration of my car (going on 5 years, but will be done in July).
I can also enjoy the car with my family (wife and 3 kids), which I couldn't do on my bike.
You also hear story after story of people getting killed or hurt on bikes, especially this time of year.

those were my thoughts too, except for the wife and kids part

I don't like the hood or wheels either but easy fixes

If you do buy a Harley put a noise restriction muffler on it. No reason for those things to be so damn loud.

I've been offered Harleys twice as partial trades for my car, so I would suggest going with the car since they seem to be the higher priority.

Simple math. Harleys go down in value, and there are more sellers of them than buyers. That's why they want to trade. Old cars appreciate as long as you paid a reasonable price for it in the beginning.

Yea, thats how they work..

I can see how that would get old after awhile. Still lots of cool factor, and eye candy that you just can't avoid while driving.

sell sell sell, buy buy buy

I agree 100%, do what makes you happy, who cares what someone else says/thinks... :iamwithstupid: sell one "toy" & buy another, story of my life...

Before your head gets torn off for mentioning buying a GTO I have to ask what else is in your stable so I can make an informed decision??
Oh crap looks like I'm in trouble I'm in the process of buying a 1969 green gto judge in virtually useless condition from a guy my mother commutes with. He pulled it out of a field behind his house, then left it in a garage for 8 years, now he is moving and needs it gone

Lol I'd like to say you're not in trouble but there are the few on here that like to take the Brand loyalty a bit over the top and forget that the vast majority on here may want a Mopar first but down deep we're just car guys!

Personally my top 2 or 3 pics in my garage if I had a bottomless wallet would be Mopars (Superbird or Daytona, 2nd Gen Charger and My RR) but beyond that there are a few other makes models that would fill some space in my garage! I'll be the first to admit I have my nasty quality too that I can be "not so nice" to the guys who buy the brand new Challengers and then try to talk to me when I'm out in mine about "Our Muscle Cars" (usually results in some smart *** comment like why didn't you just buy an old one and get a "real muscle car" or me asking if he always drives his wifes car. That's just ribbing though I never downright start arguments or flame people for their personal choices. This may be a Mopar B Bodies site but there is a great group of guys on here and to each their own... Can't stand when someone gets severely judged because someone asked or mentioned a different brand... it's ignorant and downright annoying to me! Personally the GTO Charlie posted wouldn't be for me (I would take a mint Judge though) but he asked an opinion on what he should do between 2 choices (Keep the Harley or sell and buy the car).... Why chime in with our opinions on what he wants??? I gave my opinion based on those 2 options... it was quite easy!

Like a few others on here say... do what makes you happy! everyone doesn't have to love what you drive just you

**End Rant!**
