Driveshaft length 1970 charger?

So i have had pulsating vibration in my charger for a while, went in under the car and of course the slip yoke is a bit loose also the joint but people here in Sweden told me tha the shaft is to short, c/c 1309mm = 51.5354331" ish

So what is the correct length driveshaft for my 70 Charger 383-727-8-3/4 setup? I was told 1322mm

According to the 1970 Chrysler Parts Catalog, the propeller shaft (aka drive shaft) for the 1970 Charger with 383, 727 automatic transmission, and 8-3/4" rear axle is 52.07 inches, or 1322.6 mm. Original part number is 2996162.

I went through all of this with a pulsating vibration in one of my cars. I tried all of the usual things. New u-joints, balanced driveshaft, tried a different driveshaft, balanced wheels and tires, tried different wheels and tires, turned drums and rotors. It turned out to be the factory harmonic damper (balancer) on the engine. It had deteriorated and fell apart into two pieces when I removed it. That was over 25 years ago and the same engine is still going strong today. Oh, and no more vibration since.

The shop who will make me a new shaft told me to put the yoke all the way in and pull it out 1" and then measure, i guess its best cause if it's wrong its his fault.
 
These measurements for all the different cars are right in the 1970 factory service manual propeller shaft section #16.

Get a factory service manual for your car and spend some time in there. Really lots of great info you never knew was there.

That is the way, but make sure you do it at regular ride height. ( 4 post drive on hoist)

Yes it is raised but the rear axle rests on jackstands and so does the front. I don't have a lift available unfortunately. But I have read that the important thing is that the rear axle has the weight on it

Oh in know, i have learnt to much reading the manual but never come to reading about driveshafts.
 
Ii would be surprised if a longer shaft fixes your problem. How badly worn is the bushing? Is the vibration at all speeds?
 
You have a Plymouth driveshaft in your dodge.

Oh i will change the bushing to, well from 50 and up i would say, not a huge vibration but you can feel it,

Could be out of balance. Did you check to make sure a weight did not fall off? When you put it in neutral at speed, does the vibration it go away?

Well the shaft did move alot and the joint also moved in the shaft, hmm i dont remember if i put it in neutral but if i did and vibration went away what would then be the issue?

Not the driveshaft because the driveshaft is spinning at running speed but engine and some parts in the transmission are spinning at a slower speed when in neutral and you let off the gas. If it was the driveshaft or wheels then the vibration would not go away when you put it in neutral.

Well i guess i will see what happens when the new shaft is in.
