I am installing my harmonic balancer and I am not sure how to know if the harmonic balancer is all the way in. I don't think it is judging by feel (meaning not a huge amount of bolt revolutions) and my picture but I am at a point now where I am turning the crank. If not would you guys recommend putting on an old flex plate and blocking it against the stand so the crank can't rotate? I appreciate any help.

Thanks guys!

It's no where near being full on. Pull it back off and see if you are pushing proud metal up on the inside of the damper. It looks like it is going on cockeyed.

Have you measured the crank snout and the damper inside diameter? I like mine at about .001" press fit. I've had to hone many after market dampers to get the proper press fit. Many are too tight.

And yes, one must back up the crankshaft to finish pulling the damper on.

You were right. I noticed that in the picture myself as posted it. I pulled it off and put it in the oven for 15 minutes and it slid right on. I did that the other night but it was hot outside too so it didn't help much. It's 40 in the garage and now this is much hotter so it helped.

Thanks so much for your help!
