I can't believe how loud the sound was. Probably the guy in the projection booth is young and has hearing damage from giant sub-woofers in his car. It was boring but no way I was falling asleep with that much noise. The music, if you can call it that, was a lot of base tones and other weird sounds. Way too loud for my taste.

My family & I enjoyed the film very much. I'd be happy to pay to watch it again. I liked limited dialog. The audio that was muddied after an explosion .

To me the purpose of the movie was to give a feel for what it was like to be there.
It didn't put a love story in or make a propaganda film out of it. It was not the usual Hollywood feature.

I say go see it for yourself. my 2 cents...

I thought it was very well done. Christopher Nolan did Batman and also Interstellar. It had that kind of vibe to it (that is if you saw those previous two movies, you'd might be able to guess it was Nolan at the helm of Dunkirk also). Loud? It's a war movie...bombs dropping, machine guns blasting, ships sinking, German / British fighters flying. I would not expect it to be calm and quiet.
