Wow Ed, I can so relate! Glad you were able to walk away. Time to focus on things that you can gain a sense of purpose from. I “retired” from my career in 2014 after the organization hired an over educated idiot to be the director. He managed to destroy most of what I’d sacrificed for years to build. Worst of all, he pissed off my best people and they all left, leaving the regulars to turn the crank but all innovation and accomplishing the “impossible” stopped. I’ve been working an alternate career but I’m about to pull the plug Jan 2. I’ll miss the money but I too am feeling undervalued and there’s things I’d rather do with the handful of years I have left. You did the right thing for you and your wife. Make the most of it.
