I was looking for a basic weight on a “B” engine and came across this. The numbers after the weight appear to be dimensions. Also the list predates the Gen 3 HEMI, and I don’t see the LS, or Coyote.

Very cool info.... no wonder 5.0 family splits in half if you mod them too hard.... maybe too much weight savings in the valley tray and upper main area???

Just shipped a bare boss 302 block, with the crate was less than 150lbs. Main caps were shipped separatly.

I wonder how much a 318 Poly weighs ?
They look huge under the hood.
Hughes Engines website lists the Poly at 600 lbs (estimate).
In my Brooklands Book for the Chrysler Small Block, one article on the 273 when it was first released says a 40 lbs saving on the block and 12 lbs on the heads. Another says 55 lbs saving overall.
If the 55 lbs is correct plus the 525 lbs for the 273-340 = 580 lbs. The width is all in the heads, the block is the same dimensions as the LA, just a heavier casting.

Awesome picture of an actual 4 barrel poly
I have the 318 poly 2 barrel in my 63 Belvedere but have been looking for the 4 barrel intake and evidently they are rare.
I see plenty of dual 4 barrel intakes but that is a bit extreme but cool at the same time.

How can a 360 weigh +25lbs over a 318/340? Not sure all these numbers are completely accurate.

Possibly due to the smaller forged crank/bottom end vs. the larger cast 360 ?

Cast crank is lighter than a forged unit.
