If this is your first rewire I would recommend spending the money and going with a complete harness from a reputable company that include instructions.

After one rewire you'll find that it is not that complicated or difficult but it does help going thru the first time with a set of detailed instructions to learn how all the circuits interconnect.

I purchased a Ron Francis bare bonz kit for a 66 satellite that the original wiring looked like a rats nest. It was easy to install and the kit came with detailed instructions and free technical service. But it was pricey, sometimes the technical service rep was very helpful and I don't care for the size of the fuse block.

Currently I am rewiring a 74 satellite project and was considering wiring it from scratch using individual wires, connectors and getting rid of the bulk head connector and going with a new smaller fuse block.

But when you look at the cost purchasing all the individuals parts right now I am of the opinion unless you are looking for a high dollar restoration it may be cheaper to go with a complete harness from a lower price vendor.

Couple of links of the harnesses I am currently looking at are

http://www.ezwiring.com/index.html

http://www.gemstreetrods.com/Wiring Kits.htm

They look the same but prices are a little different and both are a lot cheaper than painless and Ron Francis.

Good Luck

Rick,

Great advice sir, but in this case, the engine harness was all that was needed. There was no burn-out , but the wires just got brittle. All the others are nice and pliable.
