F O R D takes it in the can with EVs, abandons plans for F150 EV

Ford was building a massive battery plant off interstate 65 near Elizabethtown Kentucky about 3 years ago. It was to be built in two phases. I guess that second phase must have been canceled.

Absolutely.
Men that worked in the trades often find those 4 and 5 foot beds to be stupid and worthless. You can't even lay a 6 foot ladder down in the back.
All of the trucks that I have owned have been long enough to carry my work tools.
There's a guy down the street with a newer Ford mo door really short bed and put a large behind the cab tool box in it. He might have 2' of usable bed left. But he's also one of those that lowers the rear down and raised the front end up. Has all kinds of lighting to light up the undercarriage and drives it with a stiff arm on top of the wheel and runs a loud stereo with nothing but treble with the windows down....better than that booming crap at least.

My Club Cab 2 dr 1999 Dakota SLT 4x4 Magnum 5.2ltr engine, has a 6'4" bed
it's fine for hauling most stuff, it has the factory tow package too, limited slip & better springs
8' or longer stuff just put the tailgate down, or just over it, or over the cab
I had 2 complete 509/540 Alum. MkIVs BBCs & bunch of various other performance parts (?) 1,200+#s
in the back of it, going to the machinist, you barely knew it was in there,
actually road a lil' cushier

Great for parking lots too, fit in almost any parking space
it's a perfect size truck, has plenty of interior room, 4 adults, with 3 comfortably
or 2 adults & my dog in the back
it tows just fine, if the things you're towing aren't more than like 7k#s
has a built in trailer brake/trailer package, class 4 hitch, from the factory too

I love that lil' truck

I had a full size truck (14 of them) with a utility boxs & racks,
if I really wanted to haul ****

my 99 Dakota is a way better driver than any full size truck, with any 8' bed
great turning radius too, handles way better than most full sized short or long-bed 4x4s

my F350 extra cab Dually diesel 4x4 6 speed, great tow rig
but;
needed a damn city block to do a freaken' U-turn, FORDs suck at turning

my 2 dr Ext. Cabs 95 & 98 2500 & 3500 respectively, both Power Rams with 5.9 Turbo Cummins
was pretty good at turning for a bigger truck,
with an Ext. Cab 4x4 'mid size' beds, 6'3"s short beds, pot. 1 tone axles with Dana 60s frt & rear,
35" tires, made it tougher on getting stuff in or out
the crew cabs had really short beds, unless you went with a long wheelbase, no thanks
I had no problem hauling stuff in either of them
& the 95 had a rack on it too,
98 had just a headache rack up by the cab & a nice toolbox

the 2022 Maverick/Ranger AWD we had was a small truck, short bed
sort of worthless for work, decent power, turbo'd 4 banger
but too low to the ground for 4wd

the bed in the Gladiator is a joke,
but it can haul groceries like nobody's business :poke:
it can wheel like nobody's business though too, way better than most any full-sized truck ever could
