Factory drain hole? Front window channel

It's a punched hole no rough edges and that folded back lip is just there it's weird never seen this before.
 
that is weird. can you get a pic further back with the hole centered in the pic?
 
It is a factory drain hole. It drains into the cowl. It also might be a windshield gasket holder in placer too!
 
With all due respect to the above post...I beg to differ. I cannot tell you why the slotted holes are there, but can tell you that my '70 GTX has them also....co-incidence? I think not. :icon_winkle:
Perhaps they are location tabs for the screen gasket?

All have them.

Drains to cowl.

Helps water not sit in window channel, under chrome trim.
 
They're more for retaining the gasket if you ask me, the sides and the top of the window opening have the pinch weld area for the gasket to fasten too but notice it just lays in the bottom... except for those tabs. I don't doubt that they double as a drain as well.
