Factory HP ratings: 1967 383 versus 1968/1969 383

For what its worth. In 1974 I had a dead Dart GTS 383 convertible. 3.23 open diff, 4 speed, G70x14 polyglass. Only mod was a Hurst shifter. 14.5@95 at Milan Dragway

Wow. Kinda interesting Doug. I bought one of those in 1977: 1968 Dart GTS 383 convertible. 3.23 open diff, 4 speed. Still have it. What was the color?

Mine was not a what I would consider a fast car and estimate it would run similar to yours. It was a little faster than my 383 Charger, but it ran 15.0 @ 90.

My friend had a 67 Coronet w/ 383 4bbl. Our buddy with a 350 hp 396 Chevelle would club the Coronet like a baby seal.

It was white, black gut. Zero options except the stripe delete GTS 383 package and a AM radio. I sold it in 77. Then it was red with a 440, cast iron 6 pac intake.

Stripe delete as well, but triple green. I bought it from a young married couple in Warren Mi. Interesting that at least two of 39 produced were basically neighbors.

Bought this in Gro sse Point Mi. Kid that owned it needed $500 more to buy an old Chris Craft. So I bought it for $500. It was pretty nice. Slight rust in the front fenders. Bought 2 brand new ones at the the dealership. Can't remember if the were $80 each or for the pair. Then painted it red and put in the 440 left from my 68 Road Runner. Beat on it. It was my daily driver. Saw the new Volare Road Runners in 76. Tired of breaking stuff. I wanted a new car. Traded it to a buddy for $1400 and a upper and lower Snap-on tool box. Ah if I new then. Still have the Road Runner.
