FBBO member RJRENTON "Bob" has passed away.

Look at what Bob's passing brought out in everyone throughout this thread.
I'm fairly certain that would bring a smile to his face.
In my short time here on FBBO, compared to many of you, I found Bob to be a pretty respectful guy who wasn't afraid to speak his opinion.
And we all know we can be a tough crowd around here sometimes :poke:

R.I.P. Bob
All that is said about you right here in this thread alone speaks volumes about you.
Thank you for contributing to the archives that folks will draw from here on FBBO tomorrow.
You are already missed sir.

He was just on over the weekend or perhaps even more recently.

Wow.

I too am genuinely saddened by this news of Bob. He and I exchanged private conversations a few times ..... usually because I was trying to calm down the muddy waters after disagreements on the forums about charging circuits, electronic ignition and green bearings etc....

He was always positive towards my requests and suggestions, and he said a couple of times he would love to be able to come over here and pay a visit. I honestly think if he was fit enough and able to do so that he would have. I certainly do hope that everyone can sit back and appreciate what Bob tried to do in the way of education at times.

Take his arguments how you will, but he really did have a passion for getting the details right.

My sincere condolences to his family....I hope one of them will discover this thread and have a read.

May you rest in peace Bob.....you certainly have earned a rest. :praying:

Of course, all of the above is just my opinion. :)

*************

I wouldn't normally do this ...but Bob was such a nice guy, I'm sure he would be OK with me sharing our last exchange.....

I won't forget you Bob..... you have etched a great set of memories in my mind.
His discussions usually included material outside the scope of my understanding.

Never had any discourse with Bob, but always buckled up and enjoyed the ride whenever he joined in on a discussion! You've more than made your mark, RJRENTON!

A lot of what Bob discussed was beyond my scope of understanding.
Hopefully he's debating the idiosyncrasies of the 70's electronic ignition system with it's developer whoever that is. The world needs minds like Bob's, and he will be missed here.

Certainly one of the more educational and entertaining guys on this forum. I’ve always enjoyed Bobs fine and articulate postings. We’ve lost one of the good guys. RIP Bob. You will be missed!!

What a passionate car guy, just like all of us !!
I've used his advice many times for many problems in my car when I first got it years ago.

I fixed it the way Bob told me too, and I'm going to leave it that way now,
because it works, it won't break, and Bob told me to do it that way.

RIP Mr. Bob Renton, RIP Sir.

Ah. I had forgotten he was an electrical engineer. Make sense now looking back on his postings, reminds me of conversations with other engineers. Rest in peace Bob, you knowledge and experience will be missed.

Yeah. I'm an electrical engineer also, and we butted heads a little bit technically, but it was all good. I asked him if he knew any of my Decatur, IL friends, but he didn't. He had been to the motor shop my buddy owns, but he did not know the owner or any of the other guys in the shop. I didn't realize how old he was.

Opinionated engineer (?), sure, they all are. But he backed up with real data. I’d shake my head at times, but he was always entertaining. RIP Bob, prayers to his family!
