I've been up all night in anticipation of the latest surgery, so I know enough to find things to do to occupy the mind, keep it from going to dark places and worrying.
I happened to glance at the top of my filing cabinet and there laid the FBBO stickers and cozy, forgotten from the time I received them from Joey, so....

There ya go.
Should have done this a long time ago, just forgot.
Probably the only FBBO stickers to be displayed in public in these here parts - well, if I come out the other side of this surgery crap, anyways. I'm not foolish enough to believe I can keep dodging the "c" bullet forever, but I'm hoping He's not done with me yet.
I'm sure not.

Here goes nothing (again), gents. It's been an honor and a pleasure to be associated with you all.

P.S. Just how hard are these to peel off later anyways?
I'M KIDDING I'M KIDDING!
Sheesh....
Y'all be safe.
Ed

I hope you beat the livin ---- out of it. will be praying for you.

Hope all went well. Get back in that car ASAP !!!!

Greetings from the University of Tennessee Surgery Center!
Rumors of My Demise have been greatly exaggerated. :)
It's been a pretty wild 24 hours and I'm glad I'm still on the right side of the dirt.

Surgery went as well as could be anticipated; I haven't received any test reports yet but everything so far seems to be pretty good.
I can tell you that the pain that I experienced when I first started waking up from the surgery was amongst the worst I've ever experienced in this life - and let me tell you I'm no stranger to pain.
It is what it is.

The hospital has all sorts of rules on what I'm supposed to do during recovery; of course I've ignored most of them already. :)
As a matter of fact, as I speak now I'm sitting outside in front of the hospital in my shorts and sneakers smoking a cigarette. :)
Yeah yeah give me the grief later..
I've been up and wandering around since a couple hours after the surgery really - that's my nature: don't stay down.

For whatever the reason, He has apparently chosen to let me stick around awhile longer. I really feel blessed and to tell you the truth I even think I feel a little better already.
The neck is a mess of course, but I'm already dying for a shower and some decent food.
I fall asleep easily lying down, which is something that hasn't happened in several years now.
Of course, someone comes in about every hour on the hour wanting blood or testing something, but that's ok too.
It's just really good to still be here.
Really, really good.
Driving everyone at the hospital crazy is just a bonus. :)
Talk more soon,
Ed

Glad you are still with us and kickin'!

Get better soon and get that right foot ready to stomp on a "go" pedal! (And please kick the S**T out of cancer for you as well as in memory of my mother-in-law)

Cheers,

Hawk

Thanks much Hawk. We got home a couple hours ago and thankfully, I finally got a shower. :p

I started informing them about mid-morning that I was leaving today. They'd fuss and say my doctor
hadn't signed off on that and my discharge papers were not ready. I told them I didn't care, that if
anyone else needed anything from me they'd best get to stepping 'cause it was time to go home.

:-)
My surgeon showed up pretty quickly after that and everything got taken care of promptly.

She said it would be a week before they knew if anything turns up cancerous in the thyroid or tumors
but that she didn't think anything left behind was in danger.
I've already beat it three times and from the pre-surgery testing, it appears this may be the 4th.
I've already started taking the thyroid replacement meds too, so we'll see how that goes.
For now, my neck is bandaged all to heck and I go back in two weeks for follow-up.
Reckon I'm officially not allowed to do much in the meantime or I risk opening the thing back up.
They don't know me very well. :-)

Good to hear of a positive outcome

stickers look great too :bananadance:

hope you have a full & speedy recovery

Sending prayers for a speedy recovery and positive test result. sticker looks good on the car too.

Good to hear from you. Now take care and let the healing continue.
Thyroid meds can be tricky. Dont let them get away with anything that doesn't feel right.

Heres to you Ed you old dog. if you was wishing for a face lift I would get my $ back.
All jokin aside. Im glad it went good and a prayer from us here that you get a good report back.

Well, they are only human, after all. Can't go expecting miracles...
I also asked for an addmoredicktomy, but the surgeon didn't wanna go there, either. :-)

Yeah, things are all wonky right now system-wise. I went a couple days with no more than little catnaps here and there, my thermostat is currently
broken and my metabolism is tee-totally confused as the replacement medication is begun, but that's all ok - I'm still here.

Interesting (least to me) little tidbit during my "release" from UT Medical yesterday:
Surgeon wrote me a prescription for painkillers (hydrocodone). When I told them I didn't want any,
they said that's fine, don't fill it - but sign this document here saying you won't do anything illegal with the script.
*eyeroll*
They said it's a new law.
See? Government is always looking out for us. :screwy:
