Taiwanese crap dipstick on my 440 blows:mad::mad: Ok venting over now I can ask my question any one have any experience with using a Lokar engine dip stick on a BB? I spent the last 40 minutes trying to get stick back in tube. No suck luck. Up Down,up down,up down like a hookers shorts and ended up with this (see pics) Fully frustrated installed before I got the car. Any suggestions on a replacement or any one have a stock one for sale? Thanks

You maybe have a windage tray that it's getting hung up on????

I had one of those miserable tubes too, had to try every direction then hold your tung just right and then if you were lucky it might go. It had been bent to clear my headers but no kinks... Pain! I put a Lokar on it, the flexible stainless hose jobby with a locking mechanism much like an air chuck, love it!!!

Just like that virgin in highschool, jam it in hard and see which way the end bends! Duplicate...

Some of those aftermarket chrome tubes were larger in diameter than the hole in the block. I had one years ago, and it was a Direct Connection branded tube & stick set. Had to file the outer of the tube down and hammer it into position.
A right royal PITA it was.

Try bending just 1/4" - 3/8" of the tip a little. Bend it towards the crank away from the edge of the pan. They can hang up on the edge of the pan.

I have an older Lokar style quite possibly a Lokar but without the lock mechanism. It’s kind of corkscrews in but works well.

Don't laugh, but....the $15 Mr. Gasket dipstick & tube is all I'll use if originality isn't a concern. They are the only aftermarket ones I've found that actually fit in the block with no hammering or drama. Smear some ultra-gray on the end and slide it in, I've used a couple of them with no trouble. Definitely never gad a problem getting the stick itself to seat, that's a bummer..

I had the same issue since i bought the car, mine did go in "upside down" but still not easy as it should.
During the time i had the engine out to do some repairs and painting and replacing some parts etc. i installed a new windage tray and new dipstick (tube & stick).
Remembering from the previous, i checked it will not hit the windage tray but it did exactly the same.
So i grinded a part out of the windage tray to clear the dipstick prior to building it back.
I think mine was not a Lokar, but i think many will give some grief one way or the other.
If you are able, pull the pan and reinstall everything making sure it clears the dip stick.
