Can anyone help me decode this fender tag? And, do the stampings on the various parts tell whether they are original to the car? Thanks in advance. I've spent hours searching..
B = 1966 H= Hemi 426 Maltese cross is undersize crank journals. 2 and 21 would be Feb 21st build date... in '66. WT is Water test, but the 12 is a throw off....
I thought I heard that Mopar made so many 66 blocks that they carried over into 67?B = 1966 H= Hemi 426 Maltese cross is undersize crank journals. 2 and 21 would be Feb 21st build date... in '66. WT is Water test, but the 12 is a throw off....
Engine is for a '66 car.
VERY possible, but the B is for '66. Still don't know what the 12 denotes.I thought I heard that Mopar made so many 66 blocks that they carried over into 67?
Thanks Scott !The 12 meant 12th engine assembled on 2-21-1966
Thanks. The 12 denotes that it was the 12th engine built of Feb 21st in 1966. I found out that no Hemi engines were built in 1967 since so many were built in 1966. Plymouth used the 1966 engines in the 1967 cars. They didn't start building Hemi motor again until 1968 since they built so many in 66. They had plenty left over for the 1967 cars.B = 1966 H= Hemi 426 Maltese cross is undersize crank journals. 2 and 21 would be Feb 21st build date... in '66. That is what I read, also. Thank you for your help.I thought I heard that Mopar made so many 66 blocks that they carried over into 67?
Indeed that is true, but I would suspect they got stamped C. Lots of guys that can confirm or deny. More than a handful of '67 Hemi cars owned here..Plymouth used the 1966 engines in the 1967 cars. They didn't start building Hemis again until 1968.

Thank you so much. I have the build sheet. It's hard to read but I'll see if I can find the number sequence that you are referring to. I appreciate the input.1967’s don’t have vin or any numbers on block to say it was exactly the original motor. There’s stampings underneath block near bellhousing that can tell the assembly date.
You need a Chrysler Historical report to tie the fender tag to the body. Or the built sheet.
The last numbers on that fender tag are the S.O. (Shipping Order) Numbers. Those should match stamping on radiator support and under trunk weatherstripping stamping.
There are stamping on automatic trans on driver side next to trans pan that tell if it was a hemi part number trans.
If you are worried about other numbers, get the carburetor number stampings.
Thank you for the input. I'll look for the sequence of numbers and see what I can find. I read an article that said that the 66 blocks were used in the 67 cars. I'll call Galen and see if he can verify that and will let you all know, assuming he returns my call...The auto trans picture shows a VIN pad, which did not appear until the 1969 model year. The part number stamped just above the pan on the driver's side will tell you what you have. The body code numbers will be 77 909 02151 if the fender tag is original to your car. The rear end has the correct casting number, with what looks like the proper 1330 U joint. I also agree with the above stated, 66 model year hemi.
I will be interested to see what everyone thinks.Indeed that is true, but I would suspect they got stamped C. Lots of guys that can confirm or deny. More than a handful of '67 Hemi cars owned here..
I wouldn't waste your time or dime on that...I'll call Galen and see if he can verify that and will let you all know

He can be fickle, that's for sure...I wouldn't waste your time or dime on that...
I have the punch card but haven't figured out how to decode it. I also have the build sheet that's not in very good shape. They didn’t CAST very many blocks (if any) in 1966.
But they assembled complete motors in 1967. 67 motors have different carbs p/n’s, distributor p/n’s, California car have some smog valves.
It seems you allready own this vehicle, but didn’t check this prior to purchase?
Do you have an IBM report or Chrysler Historical letter?
