finding noise on super bee

i have a rattle sound under the back seat going into trunk when driving down gravel driveway. on blacktop its not there. anybody know possible cause? car is 69 super bee. the seat is out and separator between trunk is out sounds like is coming underneath hump going into trunk. thanks to everyone

Shock tower top? Took me a while to find. Shock top difficult to torque/passenger side on mine. Gotta go downstairs and check. I thought it was something in the trunk for a few months til found.

Check closely the shock crossmember that is welded underneath the floorpan in the center of the hump. If the welds have broken loose, essentially what you will have is the entire body of the car just sitting on top of the shock crossmember and every time you hit a bump, the body rises up and separates from the crossmember then slams back down on the crossmember causing noise. The larger the bump you hit, the louder the noise it makes.

This is usually a problem that is caused by the use of air shocks. The factory welds of this crossmember were not very strong.
