Am I crazy thinking that the the pedal brackets/hardware was unpainted steel and the only thing that was painted was the lower 2/3 of the pedals themselves?
I usually Blast them completely, then spray with clear acrylic on the uppers to keep them looking like new steel... Then paint the lower portions Black.
That looks very good. If you look closely at original pedals, you will see that they were actually dipped in paint and the line between the natural metal and painted surface is not a distinct line and thus the line mark is different from pedal to pedal.
The silver metal looking stuff is Seymour Stainless Steel Color paint. Someone on here said it makes a good look for something that should be bare metal. I pretty much agree but there must be something a little closer.
To take your restoration to the next level, bead blast the parts and then wire brush to knock off the whitish tint from the bead blasting. This will give the metal a fresh as stamped look. Then we coat the individual components with RPM from ECS and the assembly will be very close to assembly line correct with the durability for years to come from flash rusting that bare metal will do.
