on 71 ( and 74 ) PER WIRING DIAGRAM the tach wire runs through the NSS bulkhead plug. The firewall grommet for the tach seems to be just a 72/73 deal. Its posted around on some other thread

My bad... through the engine harness bulkhead plug. You should get just one cavity empty there... that's the one for the tach on 71s
74s uses the NSS empty provision left on them

Where's the reverse light hole?? It has a grommet on it so I know it gets a dedicated hole. Thanks for helping!! POPS

Give me a minute and I'll post a pic
The left pic shows the reverse wires that go to the transmission. It is the whiter in color plug and the wires are purple and black I believe. The middle pic shows the tach wire. It is grey with black stripe on mine. It is in the bottom far right plug on the bulkhead. The last pic shows the only wire I know of that's not in the bulk head and it is the safety switch wire for the clutch pedal. It is to the right of the brake booster.
